It seems that the script is showing me the difference between when the password was last set and today (for me it's -40 days ago). Take a look at this script which explains a lot (for me): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms974598.aspx. They calculate this number + Max Password Age. Please have a look into this.
